Volunteer Response – Registering with WVA As you know, there are lots of voluntary and community groups in Warrington, and many more localised community groups which have been set up as a result of COVID19 with the aim of supporting friends, neighbours and others in the community. Whilst it is not possible (or necessary) to keep a track of every single one, we are encouraging groups who are actively offering support to the community during the COVID19 outbreak to register with Warrington Voluntary Action in order to ensure a level of co-ordination, to avoid duplication and to try and provide a level of safeguarding and good practice. Groups should email [email protected] or call 01925 246880 to register. In addition the above there are a range of benefits to groups to registering with WVA, including access to advice on safeguarding, funding, sources of support and regular information and update emails. WVA are also collating a list of individuals who wish to offer support as community volunteers. People wishing to register an interest in this should access the webform on https://www.warringtonva.org.uk/covid-19-community-volunteer-sign or call 01925 246880. Whilst there may not be immediate roles for everyone, several volunteers have already been linked with groups within their local areas or with the safe and well team to assist with collation of food parcels, telephone assurance and prescription collections etc. If your organisation is in need of volunteers to support with COVID19 effort, please contact WVA as we have a number of very keen volunteers on their list! WBC - Safe and Well Service Safe and Well is being operated by the Neighbourhoods and Wellbeing service primarily out of Fearnhead Community Centre. They are working closely with internal colleagues and partner agencies, such as Warrington Market, Cheshire Fire and Rescue and many others to provide emergency support to any isolated resident in Warrington who is struggling to cope. WVA have linked volunteers into this offer to support with food parcel preparation and delivery, and social contact. Safe and Well provides direct support to vulnerable residents, including those on the Government’s Shielded list, providing help with food delivery, prescription collection and social contact and reassurance. Note that the Safe and Well service is intended first and foremost to support those people in our communities who do not have support from trusted family or friends. If you are aware of any vulnerable or isolated resident who does not have support from trusted family or friends, please ask them to contact Warrington Borough Council Emergency Centre 7 days a week via: • the Council website at https://www.warrington.gov.uk/help-and-support-vulnerable-people-coronavirus • Telephone - 01925 442441 or 442443.
*Please note all social care and support needs (for example needing personal care, mental health support, carer support, or safeguarding concerns) should be referred through to Contact Warrington on 01925 443322 in the usual manner.*
